Depression isn’t simple. Depression can fester and get worse over a long period of time without being noticed .  Studies have shown that millions of Americans will suffer some form of depression this year.  Unfortunately fewer than 1/3 of these people will look for help.  In many cases the afflicted do not even realize that they are ill.  Every day stress is common in the modern world. The road blocks in life have become more severe.  Many families are surviving week to week.  Trouble in the economy has made it more difficult than ever to keep a good job.  Depression stems from stress.

Countless types of depression exist.  Some of the labels mean the same thing. These labels include manic depression, medical depression, clinical depression and mental depression.  There is also severe depression that alludes to the final stages of the disease.  Depression is brought on by many associating factors.  One of these is simple biology, brain chemistry issues.  Depression is also passed along in the genes.  Those with family histories of depression are at risk.

The same issues can give birth to many different types of depression.  Depression is often the result of substance abuse.  Both alcoholics and drug abusers can contract depression.  Depression is more likely after a close person dies.  Mental depression has taken a bad rap down through history.  It was considered a personal fault before it was recognized as a disease.  The end result was treatment that was not appropriate or effective.  Every stage of depression has its ill affects.  Therefore treatment requires early detection.

Once the disease has progressed to severe depression the illness must be treated.  Suicide often takes place in this final phase.  The calls for help have gone unnoticed and the avenues for hope are slipping away.   Medications and therapy combine for a working treatment.  There are also support groups that offer a helping hand.  You can also find many natural herbal medications that have been proven effective in clinical studies.  People who suffer from any type of depression have options.  Seek medical help if you or anyone you know shows signs of depression.
